The Greek automotive market (June 2025)

Passenger cars

New: The new passenger car market was up by +3,5% in June compared to June 2024.

In the first six months of 2025, 78.162 new passenger cars have been registered compared to 78,020 the year before (+0,2%).

Hybrid passenger car registrations reached 7.153 units (48,8%), followed by 4.699 petrol cars (32,1%), 1.008 plug-in hybrid cars (6,9%), 869 electrical ones (5,9%) and 287 diesel cars (2,0%). 63,4% of total passenger car registrations are cars with engine size up to 1.400 cc.

Light Commercial Vehicles

New: The light commercial vehicle market was down by -21,2% in June compared to June 2024.

Since January 2025, 5.152 light trucks have been registered compared with 5.303 the same period in 2024(-2.8%). Pick-ups represent the highest share in the market (41,0%) followed by Vanettes with a market share of 32,0%.

In June 2025 Pick-Ups represent the highest share in the light commercial vehicle market (38,7%), followed by Vanettes with a market share of 30,3%.

Light commercial vehicles market posted 1.084 registrations in June 2025 compared to 1.375 the year before   (-21,2%).

Commercial Vehicles

New: The commercial vehicle market was down by -26,8% compared to June 2024.

Since the beginning of the year, 335 units were registered as compared to 598 the year before, suggesting a decrease of -44,0%.

In June 2025, 52 trucks were sold in total, compared with 71 the year before (-26,8%).

Moreover, imported used commercial vehicles still cover the greatest share of the specific market segment. New CVs represent only a small percentage, pushing the average age of commercial vehicles in Greece to high levels. This, expectedly, generates environmental and road safety issues.

Buses

New: The bus market increased in June by +242,5%, as compared to June 2024.

During the first six months of the year, 540 buses were registered compared with 503 the year before (+7,4%).

Regarding June 2025, 137 buses were registered compared to 40 buses in June 2024 (+242,5%).
